Inanda Trail Running Club
Mmeli Ndimande and Patrick Canhman are the co-founders of The Inanda Trail Running Club.
Both Mmeli and Patrick grew up in the community of Inanda. After many years of being involved in sports, they realised that there was a need for some kind of sports club in their community.
Sport had such a positive impact on their lives, so they both decided this was something that they wanted to share with their community and founded the IRTC with the help of a group of other people who are also passionate about sports.
The aim of the club is to see introduce the youth of Inanda to trail running sports.
The club’s vision is to see the youth and children of Inanda having a good relationship with one another through sport and to decrease the crime rate in our community.
- To increase the sport participation at Inanda
- Promoting healthy lifestyle
- Creating better opportunities for the youth
- Implementing discipline
- To Reach out to 100 children by the end of 2020
- To create professional athletes
- Out of 13 events done by the ITRC we have managed to get 56 podium finishes.

More Than Just Running…
This is more than just a running club. We are helping these children to become responsible adults by making sure they have what they need to get an education, such as school shoes, clothes, books, pens and other stationery.
We also arrange other activities for them to do. Once a month we get to work cleaning up the banks of the Inanda Dam.
If you’re interested in getting involved in one of these projects you are welcome to join in or donate food, drinks, rubbish bags or gloves.

THERE were plenty of smiles last week as the Crusaders Running Club donated more than 100 T-shirts and more than 25 pairs of running shoes to members of the Inanda Trail Running Club.
The donation all stemmed from last month’s inaugural 6km fun run/walk. The event was a smashing success and as word spread of the club’s charitable drives, Crusaders were contacted by the Inanda based club. Initially the trail running club asked for any help with shoes or running kits. Members of Crusaders obliged donating kits, string bags and running shoes.
Mmeli Ndimande and Sipho Canham of the Inanda Trail Running Club said they were blown away by the donation.
THE iNanda Trail Running Club was really excited to have three team members achieve podium positions at the recent KZN Trail Running Aloe Wildlife event on Sunday, 6 May.
In the 20km race, Patrick Canham came second and Zolani Mavundla came third. In the 13km race, Mbhasobhi Gumede achieved first place.
